Buterin outlines specific opcodes and operations that could see gas limit adjustments: SSTORE when creating new storage SSTORE in general (slight increase) Precompiles (excluding elliptic-curve operations) CALLs to contracts with large code size Some complex arithmetic opcodes (MODMUL) Calldata costs (slight increase) These targeted increases would allow Ethereum to scale computationally heavy operations without overstressing other parts of the network. In essence, the network would become more efficient without compromising validator decentralisation.
