BlackRock Makes a Surprising Move with BNB – Binance Also Involved

BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, and Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange, have announced a strategic partnership that will bring tokenized Treasury products to a wider audience. The BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) is now available on BNB Chain and as over-the-counter collateral on Binance. Representing over $2.5 billion in investments, BUIDL has begun to play a more central role in institutional capital efficiency within the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Binance and BlackRock stated in a joint statement that BUIDL has “become a fundamental building block of on-chain finance.” The companies noted that this integration will allow Binance’s global institutional users to use their capital more efficiently while maintaining exposure to tokenized Treasury products. Chen explained that many institutional clients are “demanding more stable, interest-bearing assets that they can hold as collateral while actively trading.” BUIDL, issued by Securitize, functions as stablecoin-like collateral because it is designed to be pegged to the US dollar. The fund is currently actively used on the Ethereum mainnet, Layer-1 networks such as Aptos, Avalanche, and Solana, and Ethereum extensions such as Arbitrum, Polygon, and Optimism. The expansion to BNB Chain both increases the fund's accessibility and adds a new dimension to institutional collateral options. BNB Chain has gained significant momentum recently, particularly with the rise of derivatives platform Aster and its integration with Binance Alpha and Binance Wallet. Major platforms like Ondo Finance, which is growing in the real-world assets (RWA) space, have also begun integrating with BNB Chain. *This is not investment advice.
